He was nearly 15 when he died
We miss him so much but know he had a good life with us and that we looked after him and gave him a lovely home. He touched our hearts and lives
Forever missed but never forgotten
Love Tracy & Mark

One night I received a call from a lady I’d previously met concerning a stray in their area. He’d been visiting many kind homes in his round but wouldn’t enter their houses but he had a secure ‘home’ in one of their sheds. This particular evening the inevitable happened and he was hit by a car, luckily the person lived in his round and recognised him. We authorised a visit to the vet and further authorised the treatment needed. Luckily he was at a vet who specialised in bones and after viewing the X-Rays and discussing with the vet it was decided that the leg couldn’t be pinned but it was agreed to align the bones and cast over the leg to let the bones re-join. To keep him from jumping he needed keeping in a dog cage and you can imagine the first day we brought him home to not only being in a house but in a cage as well.
Because of his bright blue cast we named him Welly as it resembled a wellington boot. We spend hours, months really, sitting with him and he gradually morphed into a beautiful and loving boy. Finally the day came when the vet signed him off and Welly was now a mobile and independent cat.
We had 14 years of heaven with him and he lived with many other adoptees which he took in his stride and willingly shared his home with. Amongst them was Pickle, a dark torty, who after being stuck in a home and hiding we brought home to try to bring her out of her shell. It soon became clear she was deaf and over the next few weeks she became increasingly unsteady on her feet. It was diagnosed as an incurable nerve disorder. She had difficulty standing so one day we spotted Welly standing astride her to keep her upright while she ate and he then proceeded to groom her. We cried.
Luckily he passed in his sleep and never suffered, but it was devastating for us and he’s now buried in our garden with all the others we loved over the years. Having all these ‘problem’ cats I consider a privilege and the years I’ve been involved with them have been so rewarding and having given me so, so much pleasure.

My father was terminally ill and was eager to ensure mum had company when he was no longer with us. Having been looking for a rescue cat with a gentle nature, they were introduced to Frankie. I can genuinely say it was love at first sight. Mum was devoted to Frankie and would laugh at all his antics. He was naturally a large cat, the same size as my cocker spaniel but he was very agile. He would throw himself at the bird table and swing holding on with one paw whilst trying to catch birds with the other. In the morning/ night when he thought it was time to get up, he would tap mums hair getting rougher and rougher until she woke up. He was never far away, always enjoying the warmth and comfort of his human mum. He even moved county to Norwich with my mum, serenading us all 120 miles in the car!
Sadly Frankie passed in September 2023 after a short illness. His memory lives on along with those of my parents and he is now at rest in my garden alongside other beloved pets who are no longer with us.
A donation to Lincoln Cat Care has been made in his memory so they can help other cats to find their forever home.
Thanks you Lincoln Cat Care for all that you do

I love you Poppy, you are forever the best cat.

Henry was about 2 when he came to live with us, and gave us many years of companionship and affection.
He saw me through my diagnosis of breast cancer and subsequent treatment and was a great comfort to me in the years when my husband was ill and after his death in 2021. Henry was a real lap cat and we were devoted to each other. He always slept next to my pillow and loved to be cuddled. I have never known such an affectionate adorable cat. He died in November 2024 aged about 14.
I have other cats in my life now including another black one, little Suzi, and her sister Sasha, both from Lincoln Cat Care. They bring me so much love and joy, but there will only ever be one Henry and he will always have a special place in my heart.
R.I.P. my sweet handsome boy….
