settled in 5

Hi Brian,
Thank you for your letter.

Brie and Cheddar have settled in very well. They have new names now though. Cheddar is called Bokushi, which is Japanese for ‘vicar’ as she is black but has a white mark on her upper chest that makes it look like a vicar’s collar. Brie is now called Baffi, which is Italian for moustache, as her markings on her face look like she has a moustache.

We have been in contact with Chelsea, their foster carer, over the first two months or so, to let her know how they are both getting on.

Both cats seem well settled now. They love spending their afternoons asleep in the library, each curled up on a comfy chair. In the mornings they are more active, chasing each other around the house. They have had their first visit to the vets as well, to get a once over and their vaccination. While it was a slight challenge to get them into the carriers, they were fine during the vet’s examination.

Baffi (Brie) has developed a fondness for chairs, which means she frequently steals our chairs when we get up from our desks during the day. She does also sleep in my husbands office chair during the night. But as soon as she hears the blind in the dressing room go up, she comes running so she can watch the birds. She also likes to call for us, and when we arrive she demands a fuss, especially a good and long belly rub. She still loves playing with the laser and will come running as soon as she hears it being picked up or switched on.

Bokushi (Cheddar) has really come out of her shell. She sits on my knee every evening when we watch telly and enjoys a good belly rub. She has also learned her new name and comes running when I call her. While she will play with anything, her favourite toys are a knitted bird and butterfly on a string I made for them. She brings them to us when she wants to play. She has developed into a little thief though and will pick up anything she finds that is small enough to fit into her mouth and light enough for her to carry away. After playing with her treasure for a bit, she will put it into the play tunnel, which she adores. We have found all sorts of things in the tunnel that she has stolen.

I have attached some photos of the two, which you can use on your website if you want.

Many Thanks,
Silvia
